3.14.07 - 2007 USDGC Roc Release

All of the USDGC Rocs have been sorted by line, color and weight. Most of the discs have received hot stamps, with stamping to be wrapped up today or tomorrow. At that point all of the tournament partners will be able to begin placing orders. One thing everyone is asking about is the types of discs of available. Here you go:

Champion “Rancho” Mold

We have a nice blend of colors in what has been the staple configuration (mold + material) for most of the previous runs. These discs look and feel fantastic.

Champion “Ontario” Mold
This is likely to be the hottest disc of this year’s run as they are the true Ontario mold. Some of the Special Blend Rocs in the past were designed to be Ontario-like, from a performance standpoint. They were produced with a variation of the Rancho mold as evidenced by the bottom side engraving. Dave Dunipace reports, “These fly like Ontarios with a much slower return on the fade than the Ranchos.” These are the first USDGC Ontario Rocs ever produced.

Star “Rancho” Mold
The Spectator release (October ‘06) was molded to be more stiff than usual. Dave described the Star runs as follows “There are two types of Star. The latest batch is not soft, but not stiff either. It’s a new blend that we think has a better grip. This is distinct from the Spectator Release.” There are six colors and a few hundred swirlies.

Gummy Star “Rancho” Mold
While unpacking the pallet, we noticed one case labeled “gummy”. Inside we discovered 90 gummy Star Rocs. All of them are off white and are noticeably different from all the rest of the Stars. They are gummy, but not floppy. These got a special mini stamp, shared only with a tiny batch of the Ontarios.

It is definitely the best year ever to be a USDGC Partner. With the super small run, it is likely that most of the ultra rare combinations will not even make it to the online pro shop. If you’re not a partner, you may want to befriend one.

Just be sure not to hesitate getting your online order placed when the Rocs go on sale. There will definitely be gems available, but these discs are expected to sell out quickly as they did a few years back. THIS IS A VERY SMALL RUN!

One final note to collectors… Every disc this year is going to be registered before it leaves the building. Each and every disc will receive a holographic sticker with a specific number. Each disc will also come with a certificate of authenticity that has a matching sticker, this in addition to the CFR form. (Last year the CFR cert served as the certificate of which really doesn’t help buyers down the road.) If you throw your Roc it really doesn’t matter, but if plan to re-sell them be sure to keep your certificates in good shape. This will protect you as well as future buyers.
