6.6.07 - Interview with David Wiggins, Jr. (Part 2)

David Wiggins, High Point, NC

You have been very successful on the baseball field as well. How has that experience helped you on the disc golf course?

Playing Little League, especially all-stars, helped me learn what it’s like to have to make a good throw under pressure and how to do well and not get rattled by competition.

So what does an eleven year old have on his I-pod?

Weird Al Yankovic, lots of Weird Al. It’s funny and relaxing. I like Rock, old and new and some Hip Hop and Rap. Every time my Dad and I drive to a tournament, right when we drive into the lot, we blast Purple Haze on the CD player. We played that once before a tournament and I did well, so now it’s a sort of tradition for us. It helps me get psyched!

If you could get your drivers license today and buy any car you want, what would it be?

I’d get a Ford F-350 Super Duty Crew Cab non-dually with a bed cover.

Is there a disc golf course out there that you have never played, but really want to?

Some day I’d like to play the Japan Open. I hear the course is great, and they make you feel I’ d love to visit there and I’ve played a lot with 150 class discs so that would not be a problem.

Will you give us an idea of what’s in your bag?

Drivers: Star or CFR Wraith for distance, Orc for long hyzer, Valk for hyzer flip, Teebird and Leopard for straight drives or any. Firebird for overhand, headwind, skip-hyzer, hard hyzer

Mid-range: Lots of Rocs, KC, star, Champion and DX lots, of different weights

Putters: 4 Time JK Aviar floppy is my #1 putter. Also soft Rhyno, “grid” Aviar, and DX Aviar (soft)
